Operate EVM multisig wallets outside Liminal Vaults
In Liminal, a multisig wallet is a self-managed storage solution, emphasising that asset custody always remains independent of Liminal. Thus, the wallet signers can manage funds securely outside Liminal Vaults.
When an EVM-chain multisig wallet (for example, Ethereum wallet) is set up through Liminal, it initiates a Gnosis multisig contract in the background. This contract registers all predetermined signers, with Liminal as the concluding signer. To initiate and confirm a transaction, the organisation must provide one signature fewer than the required threshold, as Liminal Gas Station provides the final signature and also bears the gas fees.
Take the following steps to operate the multisig wallet outside Liminal Vaults.
- Log into Vaults.
- Navigate to the wallet details page.
- Go to the Settings tab and download the Wallet Key Card. This key card contains all the necessary details to manage your wallet independently.
Refer to the provided sample key card document for reference.
Take the following steps to access your multisig wallet on Gnosis.
- Visit the Gnosis safe website.
- Select Launch Wallet button on the top right corner of the screen.
- Select Connect wallet. Connect your hardware device with your system, which is linked to your EVM-chain multisig wallet as member/owner of the wallet. If you connect with any other device, then the wallet restored will only be a "view only" wallet.
- Select the applicable type of your device.
- Select Custom Derivation Path from the dropdown. Copy the derivation path from your Wallet Key Card document and paste it in the corresponding field.
- Under Address, you will see all the wallet addresses associated with your device. Select the address you wish to use and select Connect to proceed.
-
Select Continue with Ledger.
-
From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate multisig address associated with your wallet. This address should match the one listed on your wallet key card. Review the card to ensure you select the correct address. If your device is a member of multiple multisig wallets across different chains, make sure to choose the address for the specific wallet you intend to access.
You have now successfully restored your multisig wallet without using Liminal Vaults. You can send or receive funds into the wallet.
