Archiving Wallets

Archiving old and unused wallets

Archiving a wallet removes it from the Wallets section of the Liminal Vaults dashboard and disables all future send transactions. Archived wallets are moved to a separate section and can be unarchived at any time.

You may want to archive certain wallets in your organisation for the following reasons

  1. To migrate funds from a V1 wallet to V2 wallet. Post migration of funds these V1 wallets would be of no use.
  2. The wallet is no longer being used
  3. The wallet was created by mistake

Types of Wallets that can be Archived

  • Cold Multisig Wallets
  • Warm Mobile MPC Wallets
  • Hot Withdrawal Wallets
  • Hot Deposit Wallets

Who can Archive and Unarchive Wallets?

Only users with Owner access can archive or unarchive wallets.

Steps to Archive a Wallet

  1. Navigate to the Wallets section of the Liminal Vaults Dashboard.
  2. Click on the three dots in the row of the wallet you want to archive.
  3. The dropdown will have the option to archive the wallet as shown below.
  1. Once you confirm, the wallet will be archived and will continue to appear under the archived section of wallets.
  1. You can still access the wallet transaction history and view its associated members by expanding the wallet details.

Steps to Unarchive a Wallet

  1. Navigate to the Archived section of Wallets by clicking the on archived filter to view the list of archived wallets.
  2. Click on the three dots in the row of the wallet you want to unarchive.
  3. Once you confirm, the wallet will be unarchived and will once again appear in the main list of active wallets.

Impact on Pending Actions

⚠️ We recommend approving all pending actions and ensuring all funds are transferred to another wallet before archiving the wallet.

On archiving a wallet all pending actions will disappear from the Home tab and the Wallet Details' Overview tab. However, users will still be able to approve pending actions via the Liminal Vaults mobile app for MPC transactions. No transactions can be initiated from the wallet after it is archived.

If the wallet is unarchived, the pending actions will re-appear and they can be approved again for further transaction processing.

Impact on Holding Statement and Account Statement

Balances of Archived Wallets and past transactions of Archived Wallets will continue to appear in the Holding Statement and Account Statement that is downloaded from the Transactions > Reports section.
