Stake ETH using MPC transactions

Vaults supports staking Ethereum (ETH) on the Ethereum network using multisig ETH wallets and ETH MPC warm wallets. Staking ETH is supported via Figment as the validator. You can claim rewards automatically to the same wallet once you begin staking. Refer to the table for the staking details. Partial staking and restaking is not supported. All staking events are communicated via email notifications.

Prerequisites

  • Your ETH MPC wallet must maintain tokens in multiples of 32 ETH to begin staking.

Enable Staking for MPC ETH Wallet


  1. Sign in to your Vaults account.
  2. Navigate to Staking from the left navigation menu.
  3. Click Start Staking to the right of the header to open the Enable Staking popup.
  4. Verify the asset and validator details. Select the MPC wallet from the wallet dropdown.
  5. Mark the required checkboxes for Staking Terms of Use.
  6. Click Enable Staking.
  7. Enter the required 2FA code to confirm and Continue.

The request to enable staking for the wallet is moved to the Home > Pending Actions section. The respective wallet Initiators need to approve and Signers need to sign the request from Vaults mobile.

Approve and Sign Enable Staking Request

The minimum number of Initiators assigned to the wallet are required to approve the request to stake the transaction.Signers need to sign the approved request to enable staking.

  1. Wallet members need to review and approve the request to initiate staking the ETH asset from Vaults mobile > Actions.
  2. Once approved, the signers need to verify the staking request and approve from their Mobile account > Actions.

You can initiate a staking request once the ETH MPC wallet is approved and signed for staking.

Initiate Request to Stake

  1. Click Start Staking next to the active wallet under the ETH asset in the Staking page.
  2. In the Initiate Stake popup, verify the wallet and validator details. Enter the staking amount, withdrawal address and note and click Next.
  3. Verify the details and click Initiate.
  4. Click Close once the initiate staking request is processed successfully.

Approve and Sign the Initiate Stake Request

The request to stake needs to be approved by the minimum quorum members on Vaults. Next, it needs to be signed by the minimum Signers via Vaults mobile.

  1. Wallet members need to review and approve the request to initiate staking the ETH asset from Vaults > Pending Actions.
  2. Once approved, the Signers need to verify the staking request and approve from their Mobile account > Actions.

The respective wallet will start to generate rewards after the required bonding period (12 days) once the request to initiate staking for the ETH wallet is approved and signed.

Unstake and Withdraw ETH Asset

You can unstake an ETH asset after the unbonding period of upto 3-4 days.

Unstake an active ETH asset

  1. Click Unstake next to the respective ETH wallet.
  2. In the Unstake Asset popup, verify the details and click Confirm and next, click Initiate to initiate a request to unstake the ETH asset.
  3. Approve Unstake Asset request: Requests initiated to claim staking rewards are recorded on Vaults web > Pending Actions as a Staking Claim action type. The minimum number of wallet Initiators are required to approve the Unstake request from Vaults mobile > Actions.
  4. Sign request to Unstake: Requests initiated to claim staking rewards are recorded on Vaults web > Pending Actions as a Staking Claim action type. The minimum number of wallet Signers are required to approve the Unstake request from Vaults mobile > Actions.

Once the request to unstake is approved and signed, you can start to withdraw assets.

Withdraw from Unstaked ETH Wallet

Navigate to the respective unstaked ETH MPC wallet on the Staking page.

  1. Click Withdraw next to the wallet to initiate withdrawal.
  2. The required wallet Initiators need to approve the withdrawal request and Signers need to sign the approved request.
  3. Once the request for withdrawal is approved and signed, the ETH assets are automatically withdrawn and transferred to the destination wallet.
